How To Structure A Cover Letter (In General)

This article aims to briefly explain how to structure a cover letter.

There are 7 main features to a cover letter: opening, reason for writing, introduction to who you are, experience and education, explaining why you are the best fit for this role, summarising everything you have said so far and concluding.


To Whom It May Concern/ Dear Sir or Madam,

Dear Sarah Ngan (if you know the persons name)

Introduction to who you are:

I am a recent graduate in…

In my past role I was working as…

Experience and education:

I graduated from the University of X with a degree in…

Throughout my time at university I have been proactive in gaining experience in X…

Explaining why you are the best fit for this role:

I feel as though I am a good fit for this role because I have experience in …

I share similar core values to the company which are X and where demonstrated with X…

Summarising everything you have said so far:
