How To: Keep Your CV Updated All Year Around

  • Keep a list of all your projects, tasks, and responsibilities at every job. Whenever you work on a project, write down the skills that you are using to complete the project. Microsoft OneNote is a useful resource to keep track of the projects you are working on and skills you are developing, whilst they are still fresh in your mind.

  • Document all your roles (promotions, secondments, and changes in responsibilities).

  • Fill in recruitment gaps. For instance, perhaps you were made redundant or became a stay-at-home parent for a period. Whatever the situation, mention what you did, how long and which skills you developed.

  • Remove unnecessary job roles that are not aligned to the job role that you are applying for. Save space on your CV and add information, such as training courses that are linked to the role you are applying for.
